It's likely because they already have the ballots printed and filled out, ready for the cheat. If he forces his hand and gets his name removed, it'll screw up their plans. Same for the rest of the states. It's a brilliant move by the WH's.
i do not think that they printed the ballots so soon. especially if harris might be removed right after the sept 10 debate. the reason i think this is trump made a comment that said something in the lines of harris might be removed like biden (i don't have the source, but i know trump said it recently)

If they already had ballots filled out for Biden - a couple of weeks ago they had to fill it out again for Kamala.
If they already have them filled out for Kamala (with RFK option, which won’t look real in November due to RFK dropping out) - they can do it again, also in couple of weeks filling them out with Kamala and without RFK option (so they look real).
