INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE DECLARES ISRAEL OCCUPATION "UNLAWFUL" MUST CEASE IMMEDIATELY; DISMANTLE ALL SETTLEMENTS
The International Court of Justice, to which EVERY country on earth is a signatory to the Treaty which created it; has ruled the Israeli Occupation...
What are the ramifications if Israel ignores the ruling? A strongly worded letter?
God
The problem is, that the Court itself has no credibility anymore, because of going after Putin. In a year or 2 the Court will close its doors, who cares?
It was the International Criminal Court (ICC) that issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, not the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The ICC accused Putin of war crimes related to the unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine during the ongoing conflict.
The ICJ deals with disputes between states, not individual leaders, so it is not involved in prosecuting individuals like Putin. The ICC handles such cases involving crimes like war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, which is why it is the court pursuing legal action against Putin.
Thanks for the correction.
I had to go out and learn it real quick first
Very Interdasting. 🤔
Another bureaucracy I never knew existed , that our taxes are being stolen to pay for. A retirement plan for civil service judges as a reward for a lifetime of handing out “justice”.
Cool... a fake country accused of occupying a non-country.
That is sternly humorous way of putting it.
potato set the presedence of ignoring the courts....
UPDATE: Not all member states of the United Nations are automatically parties to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) because it is the principal judicial organ of the UN. There is no separate treaty like the Rome Statute for the ICC that countries need to sign. However, not all countries fully accept the ICJ's jurisdiction in every case.
Countries can choose whether to accept the ICJ's compulsory jurisdiction in legal disputes. This means that while they are members of the ICJ, they may not necessarily agree to submit to its rulings unless they consent to the court's jurisdiction on a case-by-case basis or through specific treaties.
For example:
So while all UN member states are subject to the ICJ as a part of the UN framework, their participation in specific legal cases varies depending on their consent to jurisdiction.
