We live in a reality (world) built upon a dichotomy... meaning, you can't define up without the contrast of down, hot without cold, short without tall. Removing our pool of ideas to choose from literally erodes our free will.
We didn't get free will from anyone on the planet. We arrived with it. Thus nobody can take it away. That is what the first amendment is all about.
