Kings Mountain Lithium refers to the significant lithium mining operations located in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, which is recognized for its substantial lithium deposits. Here's what you should know:
Historical Context: The Kings Mountain mine has a history of lithium production, having operated for about 50 years before closing in the 1980s due to cheaper foreign lithium sources. The site is notable for hosting one of the few known hard-rock lithium deposits in the United States, which contains spodumene, a lithium-bearing mineral crucial for lithium production.
Reopening Efforts: Albemarle Corporation, a global leader in lithium production, has plans to reopen this mine. Initially, there was an expectation to resume operations by late 2026, but recent updates suggest delays due to fluctuating lithium prices. Despite these challenges, the project is moving forward with significant investments, aiming to support the U.S. electric vehicle battery supply chain by increasing domestic lithium production.
Environmental and Community Engagement: The reopening project includes a commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement. Albemarle has outlined plans for environmental assessments and community input, aiming to minimize adverse impacts on the environment and enhance benefits for the community.
Economic and Strategic Importance: The Kings Mountain site is not just a mining operation but part of a broader strategy to reduce U.S. dependency on foreign lithium, particularly from China, for critical technologies like electric vehicle batteries. The U.S. government has shown support for this initiative, evidenced by grants aimed at boosting domestic lithium production.
Public Sentiment and Speculation: From social media platforms like X, there's considerable interest and speculation around the mining project. Some discussions link natural disasters or land acquisitions with lithium mining activities, suggesting public concern over environmental impacts or land use changes, although these claims are speculative and not necessarily supported by factual evidence.
Future Implications: The Kings Mountain Lithium mine, if reopened as planned, could play a pivotal role in the global transition to clean energy by supplying lithium for batteries in electric vehicles and other renewable energy technologies. This operation could also have broader economic impacts on the region, potentially creating jobs and enhancing local infrastructure.
Given this context, Kings Mountain Lithium represents not just a mining project but a strategic move towards energy independence and sustainable technology in the U.S., with implications for environmental, economic, and geopolitical landscapes.

All bullshit. I live 15 miles east of Chimney Rock. I understand that there is a lithium deposit another 30 miles east from me near Kings Mountain which is 15-20 miles south of Charlotte. It makes this board look like dumbasses if it's full of rumours. I've been unloading planes at Rutherford County Airport this week. The problems I've encountered is govt incompetance. Private pilots from Texas to Michigan to northern Maine and all points in between were bringing in supplies at their own expense. I think it was Wed when we had around 130 planes. At times, we had one landing every 2-3 minutes. The shut us down around 12:30 for about 3 hrs while Biden landed in Asheville. It takes an hour to get there. 35-=0 miles as the crow flies. He didn't even know why he was there. What I hate most is them not allowing competant civilians to help get into remote areas to reach people.
"GASTON CO., N.C. (WBTV) - The North Carolina Department of Environmental Qualityβs Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources has issued a mining permit for the Piedmont Lithium Carolinas, the department announced Tuesday.
The operation will cover 1,548 acres in Gaston County, of which 964 acres are bonded for disturbance.
The area is located within the Carolina Tin-Spodumene Belt and Battery Belt.
Piedmont announced in April that the permit would be approved."
Emhoff has shares in BlackRock derivatives. If you have a financial manager in charge of your portfolio, you also own BlackRock derivatives. The connection is tenuous.
The West is fast tracking and backing any mines linked to Battery tech as the Chinese dominate the market and use it to control pricing etc, especially in the rate earth market.
Australia has had mines and processing plants fast tracked also.
So do you rely on China or develop your own assets?
Of course that's if you believe in global warming.
Its normally in the middle of no where, have to deal with aboriginal claims but generally goes pretty smoothly. But that is why they are the biggest, they know what they are doing.
Point in this case is the USA is desperate to reduce reliance on China re battery minerals but the funny thing is lithium is not rare, so there are plenty of other targets but looks like they want this one and screw the people.
PS our Governments are allowed to compulsory acquire land but have to pay market value, generally pay overs to avoid the outcry.
This guy is partially correct about the filing of the permit. Emhoff may have money in Blackrock, but he's far from being its biggest shareholder.
I made this comment last night after digging:
I don't see the evidence to support this: https://www.marketbeat.com/stocks/NYSE/ALB/institutional-ownership/
It seems to be a very diversely held stock. The usual suspects would have to own 200 companies to have a substantial stake in Albermarle.
I do however see their stock is up 20% in the last month. Which members of Congress had recent plays in $ALB?
Even if he is not the biggest, lets talk about he IS an investor and his wife approves the permits - o.k.?
No arguments there. Though I don't have receipts for if the VP is responsible for approving land/mineral rights. Fog of war.

We need those receipts stat....
Enfold and tribe are the largest shareholders of Blackrock, there fixed it for you.
THANK YOU. When I first saw this, and that dude said, I called INSTABULLSHIT.
Adding the narrative that Emhoff is the Blackrock majority shareholder instantly discredited everything he said.
Well. There it is.

When you make a statement like, "Douglas Emhoff is the biggest investor in Blackrock" (seriously, did I hear that wrong), all else gets negated.
Yup. All this unsubstantiated bullshit are turning a lot of people away from legitimate concerns.
Evil abounds.. crazy loss of life β¦

Do you grab the land of citizens under the disguise of a catastrophe or do you make fair offers to buy it?

They're a private company and they don't disclose their investors...
Where's this info coming from, and how do we know it's reputable?
