i prefer the modern system in almost every way, including the astrological implications (the hexagon on top of saturn should give anybody pause). i believe the decision by constantine was in agreement with the will of God.
but I could be biased because I've met some insufferable calendar hipsters that insist on celebrating different dates than everybody....even going as far as saying that God is not present in a church if they hold a service on Sunday.
Matthew 18:20: "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
change my mind?
Compared to OP, the Gregorian's countenancing of pagan month and weekday names is indeed less problematic than all the astrological baggage suggested instead.
However, the more one understands the Biblical calendars such as Leviticus 23 the more one is in rhythm with God's original teaching cycle. This point is obscured by OP's frequent diversions and rarefactions.
I asked God long ago about why he taught seventh-day Sabbath for millennia then let the church practice first-day rest for millennia. He answered that if he can do this much with people in disunity, imagine how much more he will do when people agree on the truth. Yes, there's a reason for Sunday worship, and there's a big difference between weekly Sabbath rest and the Christian life of rest connected to the Lord's Day, and so intolerance on either side is out of accord with Romans 14. But the facts must be insisted on before anyone can determine their favored practice for themselves.
