So the feminism movement went off the rails pretty damn fast, but it did start from a good position, I think. When a woman is mostly dependent on the men in her life, that puts her in a very vulnerable position if there doesn't happen to be any good men for her to rely on. I had an aunt who was married to an alcoholic, and some of the stories she told me were pretty damn bad. He wasn't even a man who would become violent when he drank, but he used all their money on alcohol, to the point they had problems getting enough food, and they had 3 sons. The worst years for her were late 1940s, after the war, and 1950s.
And as far as I understand that was one of the early reasons why some women started to advocate for women to get an education and jobs of their own.
Now I think it would be good if we could get more mothers back home, but what if the husband turns out bad?
How would you solve this?
The cheap grace and simple self-satisfaction of many a pro-lifer is every bit as offensive as the mouth-foaming liberal who thinks casual abortion has no cost for women. It's offensive to me for politicians to be campaigning on the issue. I can accept that women cannot be forced to have a lifelong connection to someone, simply because he impregnated her.
When I was 13, my church youth group brought out the posters of the aborted fetuses without consulting parents, and I felt like this is something they weren't supposed to be doing- presenting the issue in moral judgment tones, and I didn't return. I was supposed to benefit from a positive social environment but some self-appointed moral crusaders were more interested in patting themselves on the back. This was 88-89, I'm almost 50.
We see the pinnacle of culture wars, but in the long run when each state has passed a constitutional amendment promulgating abortion rights, the left will no longer have a claim to protect the Supreme Court composition, and women will no longer be so interested in being a single issue voter. When I see the blue haired angry liberal, I see someone who can't afford proper nutrition but is embarrassed to admit their parents didn't build a good foundation for their development. We've been robbed by international bankers who provide unlimited loans only to whoever will wage unlimited war. Trying to do all the things for our communities - provide safety in a time of lawlessness, health in a time of mass poisoning, education in a time of disinformation, all seems exhausting... but humanity is re-kindled by even one person who can still think clearly. One of the first posts I found on this board was parasite pill and I've since passed it on to my doctor who I learned had studied parasitology in the military. I've explained to some of my family and neighbors, and told my poorest friends that horse paste has relieved my pain and restored vigor. It's not just ivermectin, almost all the horse worming pastes have been studied as effective on aggressive untreatable cancer. We have a new lease on life, just as the world appears to be getting de-populated.
I can upthumb pretty much all this, A-A, and once again appreciate your thoughtfulness.
The way that males (impregnators) have been given a pass is an additional point of irritation for me. Telling women who are genetically driven to reproduce that they shouldn't reproduce till they find the perfect man, then presenting them with mainly a downbred pool of males whose every degenerate whim has been catered to for 70+ years...well, I guess I know what the Drafters/Loanmakers know what they're doing. At least till populations crash or wake up a bit, and they can no longer count on a pool of draftees/loan applicants.
The thing that always ticked me the most about the "cheap grace/self satisfied" "pro-lifer" was the snuff porn aspect of it. And I'd agree with you on how that got amped up in Reagan's time and just after. They strive to get people in an emotionally frothing/reactive state in reaction to they themselves desecrating what they assert to be dead human beings. Trauma based mind control.
I agree with you on the church matter. Someone told me recently that we have to remember congregations are made of people, and we're supposed to love them, imperfect as they are. I countered that that's all well and good, except that my experience was they'd cut me, and others, off randomly on points of disagreement on whatever was the issue of the moment...and that can change as rapidly and confusingly as any other social/cultural shibboleth.
I avoid relationships with people like that in general. When they aim to stand between someone and God, posing as holier than thou, it's the opposite of faith practice in my view, and more to be avoided.
Some famous minister recently got banhammered by his own church because he had or confessed to or something an adulterous relationship of some sort some years ago. I observed many people weighing in on that irl and online. It seemed like what they were all leading with wasn't Christ's Love...but the excitement of having someone to pillory/burn while declaring themselves superior (while claiming HE was the one who did that). And I wondered what the children among them were observing, and the young men and women.
Beautifully observed. There is SO MUCH acting out with this confusion, shame, and lack/loss/disenfranchised grief as its origin.
You touch on another thing: when the fabric of family and community has been shredded, people can isolate or they can try to re-make that the best they can.
Communism has this mechanism at its core. Go into a coherent society, blow it up at every level, then present the commie utopia as the replacement holding system for all those traumatized, hurt, broken, confused people.
we're halfway through hell. Everyone realizes the media has protected abusers, covered for liars, and promoted bad habits. Unfortunately everyone is broke and/ or sick; we're going to need some breakthroughs in medicine and energy, and human psychology also. When dealing with doctors, I ask for the third world solution, like horse paste and nebulized hydrogen peroxide. Third world energy I suppose would be solar hot water. The human psychology part, I feel, is the great awakening. I'm always amazed how the drafters/ loan makers have such a scientific playbook. Did centuries of mating with cousins give them an advantage, or is it just that tricks is all they can do? I have an FAA commercial drone license, FCC GMDSS radio license, and certified as water treatment and wastewater operator - i can do the technology things. I want to protect humanity, not toil for the overlords. I'm reading about scalar biology and everything I don't understand. I've also worked on cannabis farms and have 10+ years general farm background including horse care, goats, and milking a small dairy herd. I'm willing to spend long periods of time at sea.
