Because they are in the middle of massive cognitive dissonance. They are forced to simultaneously believe that Biden won the most votes in history while also getting only 1 of 19 bellwethers (Obama got 18/19 as did Trump). This is the case for them on a million different topics. Their brains are under such internal stress trying to reconcile all of these irreconcilable things, that the smallest trigger can cause a cascade failure.
