With a functioning executive branch that's been cleaned of all corruption, it's possible for Trump to begin the mop-up. I think they might be trying to overload the system with targets basically. It's gonna take time for Trump to clean his own branch, and the entire time he's gonna be facing resistance from all sides to stall him and contain him until the next election. If he can't secure the voting system with most of the offenders in jail by 2028, then we are fucked. He can't waste time trying to be a moderate. He has to go full-on dictator mode until the job is done.

The "abolish the Electoral College" idiocy has been going on ever since the 2000 election and then reached a fever pitch in 2016. There could/should have been some official attempt to educate the masses on why the Electoral College exists and why it's important.
Granted, only a small percentage would have understood it, but you have to try. Thank God the election this year was too big to rig, otherwise we might be witnessing serious attempts to end the EC right now.
