I have seen these kind of behaviors in elderly folks happen that quickly when they have a Urinary Tract infection. Not saying the meds and trauma are not to blame but I know UTI's can do this. Insist she be tested and treated.
Parkinsons meds CAN NOT be missed. Just missing one dose can cause changes in mental status. I know, my father is on them and living in an assisted living facility thanks to the jab.
I believe that a really bad bone fracture can change people's blood chemistry and can sometimes advance latent dementia. A bad break knocks a delicate person off kilter.
If her electrolyte levels are out then the state might be temporary, until the levels normalise.
I am not a doctor, I'm just pointing out that a bad break is a state changer in a less robust person, and that includes their cognition.
Sometimes in the elderly, especially if they have mild dementia or Alzheimer’s, the anesthesia can have a profound impact for the worse. Doctors don’t seem to understand that in the very young and the elderly, less is more. It sounds like she had a psychotic break and I would suspect it was either the anesthesia or the pain medication she is on.
Hopefully it is something acute as unfortunately longterm care isn't a vibile option. Hell, she will never heal on sugar and fiber. It's ony processed food on the menu in our care(?) facilities. We need the whole foods in the doctors lounge. lol MAHA
I know this sounds silly but anesthesia can cause mental changes and a UTI does change behavior.
Thanks
It isn't silly at all, it's more common than people think.
