I remember reading an article back in the day about a ISIS Magazine article telling its people to light fires in the US. It sucks up resources, and sparks fear amongst the population. I brought this up to my brother Inlaw who was a Battalion Chief with CalFire, the stare he gave me…I showed him the online article and he just shook his head - and said, “We just had a statewide conference and not one word of this was brought up”. Seeing a 1970’s report that identifies Forest Fires as weapon…well seems our enemies foreign and domestic are well read.
In World War II, the Japanese sent balloons adrift across the Pacific Ocean with incendiary payloads, with the objective of causing large fires in the forests of the Pacific Coast. Some actually did cause fires, but it was mostly an ineffective program.
