Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

For me, the ideal AI is a tool that enhances life and make tedious tasks easier, a real force multiplier that allows one man to do the work of dozens in far shorter time.
Off the top of my head, there are two areas where AI can be a real game-changer: education and entertainment.
Within education, AI can help generate homework worksheets and blank test papers in a snap, especially in areas where there is very little room for subjectiveness like math and hard science like physics and chemistry. This will definitely be a boon for homeschoolers who would want to save a ton of money from buying expensive workbooks. In time, the AI can be improved to develop worksheets and test sheets in "softer" areas like Literature, both the classics, and more recent releases. I feel that with this increases in efficiency, we can really start cutting down on the need for teachers, especially the woke ones who are not good at their jobs.
Within entertainment, AI can help generate complex scenes and video clips that would've cost a fortune in time and money to make otherwise. This is especially true in the field of animation, which is, traditionally, extremely expensive and time-consuming to produce, even with the genre largely switching to computer animation by now. And with Hollywood largely shying away from animation in general (even Disney is shying away), it will be a snowball chance in Hell for any animation projects to be made in that system. However, with AI (and other digital tools), a single talented person or a small group can potentially weave together a whole animated movie or a TV series with little cost, bypassing a need for that whole corrupt system and the trouble it will bring.
In a way, I am starting to see why Trump is advocating for this technology: widespread adoption of AI technology by the general public can completely defang and dismantle the traditional Deep State institutions of power, like academia and the entertainment industries.
I know that we at GAW tend to lament the corrupt and fallen state of the institutions that continue to empower the Deep State. With AI, we might have a way to deal a significant blow to the influence and power of these corrupt institution's.
“Habit, like fire is a useful servant but a fearful master.” - George Washington.
Substitute “AI” for “Habit” and the simile still rings true.
