Yes, but before Trump, there was the original Republican party - created with the purpose to abolish slavery, which they did when the first Republican president was elected; Abe Lincoln. And it was to the Republican party the first black free men went and were elected to Congress. And it was the Republicans that got the civil rights act pushed through into law. And it was the democrats that opposed freeing the slaves, opposed the civil rights act, started the KKK and embraced Jim Crow. So if this man has learned all that, no wonder he is thanking the Republicans.
It was not 'Republicans', it Was Trump and his MAGA.

But... don't go crediting "Republican swamp creatures of the Uniparty" because they've got their thumbs WAY, WAY up their butts, Morty ...They have the majority and power to really change things and codify those EOs, but choose to play sit-n-spin on their thumbs instead...
Congratulations on leaving the party of losers, tho. 👍🏻
We'll send somebody over with a couple of 9 volts to get you sorted...
Baby steps, then toddler steps. Even being able to come to realize that 'Democrat lies are lies' and so view 'Republicans' in a different way, that's a big step for some.
He'll get there. Because he's waking up. He's not going to go forward and become a rino-supporting republican.
Getting over the Dem vs Rep divide is the first step towards getting over the Uniparty vs The People divide.
This is a very important message to start ramping up as norms, and particularly more minorities, wake up.
Because after Trump leaves office, perhaps the most damaging thing that could ever happen is for us to end up with another George Bush-alike in office, and we need the newly awakened to be just as angry with the non-MAGA Republican establishment as they are with the Democrats.
And the tricky part is, in a couple years Trump will be so well regarded that all the GOP swamp will start pretending to endorse him, so sorting out the rats for normies is going to be a job unto itself.
Just a reminder. It was not 'Republicans', it Was Trump and his MAGA.
