Yes, but before Trump, there was the original Republican party - created with the purpose to abolish slavery, which they did when the first Republican president was elected; Abe Lincoln. And it was to the Republican party the first black free men went and were elected to Congress. And it was the Republicans that got the civil rights act pushed through into law. And it was the democrats that opposed freeing the slaves, opposed the civil rights act, started the KKK and embraced Jim Crow. So if this man has learned all that, no wonder he is thanking the Republicans.
