Agreed, and I did the same. I listened to the whole interview while driving to and from work and was just absolutely disgusted halfway through when I figured out the guest was trying to gate-keep information while implanting narratives on the litany of subjects that popped up.... which was another yuge tell IMO:

Paraphrased: "let me bring up A,B,C...X,Y,Z... establish the subject, then switch to another adjacent subject without going into substance or context beyond what I'm trying to establish" which for the most part was roping.
