I believe that it’s all about the power. Attaining it, keeping it and showing it off. Real power in their evil circles is the ability to kill without consequences. Some are Satan worshipers, while others just want to be in that club.
They believe they are gods and that fresh adrenochrome is a way to communicate with the supernatural. They don't think of us as anything other than cattle to do their bidding.
yes, there's definitely something about the blood! I think maybe that's where the 'divine spark' is...our breath/blood is what they want/need. And that's why Q mentioned the Matrix movie.
