That was true in the past. Now you can sponsor family members (chain migration) but after they come here, they can collect welfare even if they live in the sponsor's house. In my county, they are mostly from India and China.

Its crazy,to let immigrants collect benefits.
Hell in Pennsylvania, the sponsor can be on welfare and "sponsor" other family members who also end up on welfare.
Then the Democrats got in power and quietly changed all that so that the new "immigrants" get everything free,
