I come from a German family and have visited there several times since the 70s. I have never seen anything like this there. My grandfather, who was a government administrator during the Nazi era, told me that anti-Semitism was rare before the Nazis came to power and it took a lot of propaganda to get people to change their minds. He told me that during this era that there were more prominent families hiding Jews and other persecuted groups and helped them flee the country, than there were turning them in.
