Well i was offered 5.75 a month ago. Still too high. Rate should never be over 3 percent. Last time trump wasnpresident i got my mortgage for 1.25 perce t.
I’ve heard portable mortgages are in the works. At 2.75% nobody wants to trade up for even the same priced home at 6.5% but if you were to be allowed to KEEP the loan and transfer it to the new house it may get people out of their starter shitbox.
Mine is too but we chose to put money into improving it rather than move.

Avg 30 yr mortgage rate is 6.22% on 1/9/26. Mortgage rates are not below 6%.
I refinanced in September 2024 and my rate was 6.125%. I don’t think mortgage rates have been that low even 1 time in the past year.
