It looks like it flew across the country, coast to coast. This was about 11:00 AM MST. Any thoughts?

Not true. The P8 replaced the P3 for all maritime long range patrol missions and it's primary mission is anti-submarine warfare. It also does search & rescue and many other things but it CANNOT do what you just claimed and it never could. The EP3 is a surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft design for signal intelligence ONLY. And the first EP8 hasn't even been built yet and is literally still on the drawing board. "Announced on 26 Jan 2006, the Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), or EP-8 if ordered by the US Navy, was to have been based on the MMA airframe, used for airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and also advanced network centric communications. It was to be the Electronic Patrol-X (EPX) aircraft to replace the 12 aging EP-3E ARIES II electronic intelligence aircraft." http://www.b737.org.uk/737sigint.htm How do I know these things? I spent 20 years as a flight engineer flying missions on both the P3 and the EP3 aircraft. I was the senior evaluator instructor flight engineer and model manager for the EP3 aircraft fleet for three years. Trust me. I know what I am talking about.

My intent was simply to educate The3rdKey on what I knew to be true simply due to my extensive experience in the Patrol Aircraft community that allowed me to give him the correct information. The3rdKey replied back and was grateful for what I told him about the Patrol Plane community.

My information is not first hand knowledge like yours is, it comes from a former employee. He was a great guy, brilliant in fact, but it wouldn't surprise me if he exaggerated what he did. It's really easy to believe that I've been fooled these days, so I tend to trust the frogs in this pond. Thanks for setting me straight fren. Ignorance is not bliss.
