in hindsight, it was so perfect.

the Dems ran Obama as their token/diversity candidate, to get his name out there, so he could maybe take over after Hillary's 8 years,

but the Dems fell in love with Obama and wanted him more than they wanted Hillary.

Hillary was supposed to be "the first female president"

Obama was supposed to be "the first black president"

But Hillary's campaign was still stuck in the era of the mockingbird narrative of "women's lib"

Hillary was still fighting for "womens lib" at a time when most voters were "over it", and had "moved on", and who didn't really see the presidential race as an opportunity for women to prove that they are "equal" to men, because most voters already believed that, and they also believed, that everyone else believed that too, so it wasn't really an issue anymore.

its kind of funny. if Hillary had played the role of under-dog, repressed woman, damsel in distress, she might have (ironically) gotten farther in politics,

but she kept insisting that women are equal to men, so maybe the voters said, OK, thats the way you want it... then we will judge you based on your actual merit.
