I think Americans have misjudged Canadians as being “too nice”, and that’s sometimes led to mischaracterizing them as complacent. And I think some Canadians have felt Americans are “not so nice” and have mischaracterized them as aggressive, mean or rude. Canadians see the worst of America because they watch American media. You wouldn’t be surprised to hear that most Canadians I met during the 2020 elections cycle despised Trump. If they found out I was American, they would immediately talk about Trump and just assume I also thought he was horrible. I stopped mentioning being American. I used to try to convince my Canadian friends to forget about Trump and pay attention to what was going on in their own politics. Now I think that was part of the psyop in Canada - keep the people focused on the Americans; they chose that terrible “orange man bad” and he’s ruining everything. All is well in Canada - our guy has great hair and wears cool socks! Well, when Trump didn’t get reelected, Canadians turned around and discovered things were not so great at home after all. And those “complacent” Canadians showed their true colours when they got pushed too far - they’re tough as nails and every bit the freedom loving patriots American patriots are! WWG1WGA 🇺🇸❤️🇨🇦
