Well, I've been a mason for a few years now and I've not been invited. Huff.
It amazes me that people outside of FM know more about what goes on in it than actual FM's do.
I can only speak for my personal experiences, but in the UK we conduct lodge business in the lodge (almost 100% initiations of one degree or another). We are forbidden from discussing politics or religion (so as to promote harmony).
After the meeting there is food and drink then everyone goes home.
I've often wondered when all the 'world control' meetings happen etc. because all lodge meetings are minuted and vetted by the members as being an accurate account of the meeting, so if there is skull-duggery afoot, there will be a written record somewhere.
