I often wish I was skilled enough to write in-depth on the subject. I remember my Gram buying sacks of potatoes that were better quality than most today @ 79 cents a freaking 10 bag, today I bought a container of salt that was 1.29, the salt and container probably worth less than a dime.

I made soda in the 80's and the plant manager told me labor was less than 2% of the cost, the soda cost a penny a can, and the can cost 10 cents.
