Currently. Evidence points to Vikings in Newfoundland first. There’s been some suggestion by some individuals of at least extremely limited interaction between Asia and Indian tribes on the west coast. Mostly half remembered Tribal lore and similarish cultural developments occurring on both continents at around the same time frame.

Some circumstantial evidence indicative of even more elaborate European exploration predating the Colonial Age. Mostly in the form of half remembered Tribal Folklore.

Though depending on how far your willing to stretch yourself and suspend disbelief. There’s some possible physical “evidence”

The Famous Westford Knight. Which depending on your interpretation. Is either a natural rock formation. The weathered remains of a native carving. Or a weathered grave marker for a Medieval Knight. That’s allegedly been identified based off the alleged Heraldry as a man sworn to the House of Sinclair. Some sources tentatively identify him as a Sir James Gunn. Which branches into the theory and legend. That the Earl of the Orkneys Henry Sinclair. Led an expedition to the Americas in 1398. It’s a rather extensive theory. But suffice to say the Templars heavily feature in it.

There’s also the Newport Tower in Rhode Island. Officially the remains of a windmill. Unofficially. Theories link it to the Templars or European exploration. Often also connected to Sinclair

There’s also the theories of Greek and Phoenician expeditions. And alleged paintings and carvings along the Mississippi.

It seems however if they weren’t along the Mediterranean and North Africa. Africans weren’t doing much exploration of anything.
