I take around 1/10 teaspoonful of ordinary borax in warm water or squash when I remember to which is a couple of times a week, although I am sure every day would be better. The pain in my injured knee is much improved and I can walk for miles and even run without significant pain. Before this I could have a day when 1/2 mile was too much and I would be limping for the next few days. The injury is an untreated soccer injury from 30 years ago which tore up the cartilage and now there is such significant arthritis there that the tibia has grown wider at the top, presumably to spread the load. The knee is very noisy and sometimes cracks loudly when I straighten that leg.

I've been taking the borax for a year or so.
