Nunes didn't really say anything that isn't already obvious.

I don't necessarily agree with Nunes stating the removal of McCarthy "looks bad", but who am I? Devin Nunes may have liked Kevin McCarthy and may have even been friends. I don't know. I'm sure McCarthy is a friendly guy, but he wasn't getting the job done as Speaker of the House. To the rest of Americans, especially democrats, they're saying to themselves, "WTF? The republicans are in a complete state of disorder". Nunes may be far more right about this than the rest of us. No? It is sad that McCarthy lost support and was fired. But, his firing was a result of broken promises and not getting things done. To a fellow congressman, seeing McCarthy be demoted is no different than one of us seeing a fellow worker lose their job for not getting things done. Nobody wants to see this.... But it is a fact of life.

As another consideration, Devin Nunes is a possible candidate for the Speaker of the House himself. Kash Patel did a recent survey that found Devin Nunes having by far the highest percentage of the votes. For some reason, it did not list Trump. Accordingly, with what just happened to McCarthy, wouldn't a conciliatory tone be the best approach for winning support for the SOTH position? Devin Nunes may be doing just that. This is why he said, Congress is suppose to be a "team sport".
