I was told by one of the National Delegates that the cost for her to attend will be over $5K. That includes her air fare, hotel and conference costs. I believe when we were to vote on National delegates they were warned it would cost a minimum of 2k. I suppose they have people who make it then drop out bc of the cost to go.
Understand that only those that have the means to go will go bc the GOP cannot afford to pay for almost two thousand delegates who come to a State meet and they certainly won't be paying for the thouseands who attend the National meet either.
I paid for all the extra things that many others did not pay for bc I wanted the full experience and I had the money to do so. It did not account for tips or the few meals that were not provided for in the packet (Thursday evening and Friday breakfast or lunch in particular). I paid extra for all the conference meals and the VIP events ($150 each night). The hotel alone was over $600 for three nights. I was there longer than most. Some didn't come until Saturday and left Sunday. Most didn't pay for or attend the VIP events. And those that came Saturday didn't pay for any dinners.
So it would have cost less for thoe who came just to vote and who brought their own meals and/or who lived close by and came by car daily.
