Then why is it that the police departments there say there are no credible reports of it?

If it's such a huge thing, why weren't there any reports before the one Vance spoke about...the same one that turned out to be untrue. The lady found her cat in her basement, and it was just fine.

This stuff reminds me of the Salem Witch trials. I would have hoped that we stopped with all the mass hysteria nonsense back in the 1600s. But nope, here's a current day example.

I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise, though. The social issues that lead to the Salem Witch Trials are the same things happening today. Religious extremism/fantasizing, isolation, and false accusation seem to have not changed much in some places over the past 350+years.

The last thing we need is a lot of Cotton Mather wannabes stirring up shit.

It's amazing how many people here are from Ohio, or live right by it, or their best friend or son or their hair stylest's best friend's mama's cousin's ex-husband or whatever lives there.

I guess you won't believe that either.

You guessed right. Why would I just believe something because you said it? You haven't had the best track record with checking something for validity before you go in whole hog on it here. But that's not just about you, personally. I don't believe something just because someone says it's true. I have a difficult time understanding people who will believe just about anything they see posted by some random stranger that has screen grabs of something some other random stranger said on X/Twitter/whatever. I guess I'm just weird like that. 🤷‍♀️

And for the love of all things holy, did you say 'Trump never says anything that isn't true" with a straight face?

This is the type of thing people point to when they call us a cult. It's a ridiculous position to take that a human being has never said anything untrue. He's not perfect. He's not Jesus. He absolutely does say things that aren't true. Because, again, not a Divine Being. This type of thing does nothing to help us, and makes us look crazy.

Here's a sample of Trump saying something that's not true:

For some reason, he keeps saying that his father was born in Germany. This is absolutely not true. His father was born in NY, USA. His grandfather was born in Germany.

Another example of his saying things that aren't true is written right in the Art of the Deal. You know, his book? In that book he repeats the lie that his dad's family was from Swiss origins. The entire family lied for decades about being Swiss, because Germans and people of German descent weren't very well liked in the post-WW2 era. They were afraid their business wouldn't do as well if people knew they were Germans.

I am not criticizing Trump for these lies. I don't know why he does it, and I wish he wouldn't, but I'm aware that he is a human, and not perfect. It's not a big deal to me. It doesn't change the way I'm going to vote. So please spare me all the "If you hate Trump so much, why are you here?!" type of nonsense that usually happens when I don't pretend Trump is infallible. I don't hate him. I just don't pretend he's the Second Coming of Christ.

So, I'm going to just list the usual response I get when I dare challenge someone's idea that Trump is infallible. This will save you the hassle of doing it yourself.

  1. You'll claim everything that you don't agree with is a lie. You don't like the source of the information. MSM! The Government! Other People! Etc... Everyone is lying!

  2. You'll claim that it's Trump trying to confuse people on purpose, and he's laying some trap to do something. What, you can't say for sure, but you're certain it's something.

  3. Trump is playing 8D chess and we're just not smart enough to figure out what he's trying to do. Hash tag symbol! Checkmate! Other words!

  4. Then you'll just make some ad hominem statements. We'll just pretend you called me names, or said things that really hurts my feelings. That will prove that Trump has never lied!

  5. You'll switch arguments and lock onto something else, while ignoring everything I've posted. You'll just pretend it didn't happen. Then you'll get angry again that I've dared to say something you don't like, and you'll constantly go on and on about how I'm harassing you by making posts here, instead of just clicking on that oh-so-handy ignore button. Or, you know, just applying some self control and not bothering to read what I post.

  6. You'll start deporting every post I've ever made here, trying to get me banned.

So, there you go. You're welcome for all the time and trouble I saved for you here. It was my pleasure.

I hope you have an absolutely fantastic night.
