tl;dr I started reading his blog maybe 10 years ago. His opinions have changed over the years, starting out (from my reading perspective) as a liberal, peak oil doomer to now an estranged democrat whose party left him. His essays are peppered with obscure words, sarcasm and witty lines. He might be an acquired taste for some.

Why does he refer to DJT as Mr. Trump?

I don't believe he has addressed that in his writings. I also always use President Trump when referring to him.
