Thanks for sharing. Professor Sachs is on the money. All that bull about Putin failing to take Kiev is pure propaganda. He only wanted to retain the ethnic Russian East. Kiev was just to force Ukraine to negotiate. The West lied again giving Putin the impression they had a deal. Like the Minsk agreement, it was a lie. He pulled out of Kiev as an act of good faith and was stabbed in the back again. The front line has not moved from where it has been for 2 years. Why if taking Ukraine was supposedly the goal? Russia is just trying to hold what it has - the East. It does not want the rest of Ukraine. The West can have it.
However, things are not going well for Russia at the moment. This has gone on longer than what he first anticipated. The economy is taking a big hit, the losses are mounting up, and they are forced to use cheap Chinese and older Soviet era weapons. Some of the oligarchs are smelling blood in the water and trouble is breaking out between the Chechens and some of the oligarchs. There have already been some shootouts between the groups. Some of these groups have their own small armies. Russian military corruption and incompetence is taking its toll.
Putin will be open to negotiations to get this thing over. In addition, he aligned himself with China - and that is proving to have been a mistake. China sold Putin a bill of goods and overestimated their position. Putin is not happy about it. China wants them to continue to keep us occupied because they think it will weaken the US so they will be able to move on Taiwan with little to no interference. Putin turned to NK, but their weapons are even worse than the Chinese ones they were sent. Plus a whole bunch of the recently shipped NK weapons in a depot were blown up by Ukrainian drones. Ukraine is causing some problems inside Russia with those drones.
The only ones that will lose at the end of this war are Ukraine and Russia. I just pray Trump can get these guys to the table soon. Besides, Trump has a big score to settle with Zelensky for throwing him under the bus over that phone call.
