To contrast, what is the yearly spend on all cancer oncology treatment and drugs? Probably at least as much and maybe much more, given the prevalence of cancer, and people willing to shell out all they have to extend what time they have. So thats an even bigger carrot waved in front of bad people to lunge at.

Bottom line, a cancer cure (or even an effective therapy) will likely be the most violently suppressed medical breakthrough in all human history.
