You used to be able to see northern lights all up there in north eastern United States at times. The massive cities have made the light pollution so bad you can't see jack. So of course when they cut the power the people will say "omg the solar flares are so bad we can now see the northern lights" instead of common sense saying "oh how nice they shut the power grid to protect pedos but at least we can see the northern lights again."
