Donnie Darko came out in 2001, just after 9/11. The movie is about a boy named Donnie (wearing a Triumph t. shirt, triumph = trump) who meets a white rabbit named Frank who represents God. God lures Donnie out of his room to tell him that the world will end in 28 days (the actual number is 28 days 42 minutes 12 seconds which adds up to 88, the same number that is used for time travel in Back to the future, also about donald trump. Trump also = 88 in gematria. This is not just a coincidence, as when Donnie asks about time travel in donnie darko, they make a direct reference to the deloreon from back to the future. I will also link a video showing explicitly and without any room for doubt that BTTF was about 9/11, so that is another link).
After God lures Donnie out of his room, an airplane crashes into his house, right through the american flag and next to an all-seeing-eye poster. This airplane crash is very interesting considering the proximity of the movie and donald trump to 9/11, and the notion that many people have that 9/11 as an event shifted our reality in a significant way, almost as if from one timeline to a completely new timeline. Donnie was supposed to have died, but thanks to god's intervention was transported to an alternate timeline/reality where he is given superhuman powers. He begins to think he can do anything, and causes a number of terrible things to happen in this alternate reality. He accuses a motivational speaker J.C. (representing jesus christ) of being the antichrist, and thinks he can define good and evil for himself.
The movie ultimately ends with Donnie realizing that defining these things for himself turns the alternate reality into a hellscape, and that anyone and everyone he cared about is warped into perverts and or dead. Interestingly, the movie also makes a reference to pedophilic cults as in the alternate reality J.C. is running a pedo cabal. Similarly in BTTF, when Marty travels from the past to the future and a burning 9/11 appears on the screen, the movie theater changes from playing "the atomic kid" to "the congregation of christ". Similarly in Donnie Darko, just before he realizes how he must save the world, the movie theater is playing "the last temptation of christ".
He finally realizes that while he was given superhuman powers, it ultimately did not make him happy and the only way to correct the universe was to go back to the moment he was saved from death, accept his fate, and die. Donnie gets back into bed, lets the airplane crash into his bedroom, and the universe is restored to a good timeline where his friends and family are alive and the perverted nature disappears.
I know it seems like a stretch, but if I have discovered anything over the last 4-5 years, it is that there is so, so much more going on in our reality than most of us could ever comprehend.
