I saw a video on TS (some guy that said "Use Logic" or similar WAY too much) saying it has to be lightning. His points were

a) The light behind brightens at the time of the hit

b) There is visible blue aura around the explosion

c) It only lasts a couple frames "because that's how lightning works"

Well (a) and (b) are visible and plausible, (a) due to extra energy in the air, but he has (c) dead wrong because lightning doesn't last just two frames in a video, it arcs back and forth - each strike is really several arcs and can last for a good portion of a second, not just an eye blink.

So I'm leaning towards DEW.
