This is solidadvice. It's ramifications far outweigh politics (and the political issues today are enormous). We all should take some regular time each day to read some of the psalms. Even 5 or 10 minutes at the start of the day can make a noticeable impact. And yes, the TV news is like corrosion on the soul.
Wasn't this the central plot point of a movie with the guy who is married to Phoebe Cates? And the girl from Alien was in it.

Yeah, here in the rural west coast it seems most folks are being prepared. No one seems anxious or weirded out. But maybe that's more of a rural mindset. We had big fires last summer and a couple years ago a massive snow wiped out power for weeks.

Well, one girl had lots of sex but didn't change to color - that happened when she read a book, the guy from the diner changed when he saw an art book and started painting. The main character changed when he defended his mother from a bunch who were going to assault her and his father turned when he admitted he loved his wife. Then the mayor (?) turned when he lost his temper.
Everyone in the movie is a lefty. It was made 20 yrs ago and the red pill movement wasn't even a thing, at least as we see it today.
And it encouraged eating a hearty breakfast (though no one changed into color from that).
