I've spent a good many years looking into it; and I have to say this really isn't uncommon. A good number of people spend serious time looking into the occult come out as devout Christian. Specifically I spent the past year or two looking into astral projection and I've heard many stories from practitioners all go the same way; they do it successfully, often many times, but eventually they're told by someone while projecting that they need to stop what they're doing and follow Christ.
