Each episode featured a new and inappropriate line crossed by male authority figures and the incremental surrender of their targets autonomy to their command Wedges are constantly inserted between natural parent child dynamics and replaced by child/authority dynamics.

One instance that stands out is a female character JUMPING OFF A BUILDING when her sensei shames and guilts her. That's like the ultimate line. It normalized complete surrender of your first and most basic duty of self preservation.

In another scene the same sensei is basically hitting on a 10th grader and shames a male student, perceived as his status rival. He calls him by his dojo name whicj is quite disturbingly "penis breath." That's normalized since like s2 i think

In another case the main protagonist is injured and wheeled out by medics. His MOTHER is in.the stands and doesnt even follow w him to his treatment. They gloss over how weird it is that he vanishes into the care of Authority and is on a bus to Mexico without his mother even knowing.
