I thought a similar bill Maryland tried to pass was the lowest we could go as a society. I am saddened to learn that I was very, very wrong 😞

Montgomery County and Raskin deserve each other. I have friends in the county who fight everything, but i know more people who live there who buy the BS whole cloth. Raskin will likely sail through with or without fraud.

For the Vonnegut novel I propose Harrison Bergeron. So appropriate for these upside-down times.

Of note: Judicial Watch was involved in one of two lawsuits brought before Judge Battaglia in MD district court, and their argument may have been the tipping point in the judge's decision. Also of note, Judge Battaglia worked previously as former Dem senator Barbara Mikulski's chief of staff, so this decision is a bit of a shock. No word yet on if the Dems will comply or appeal.

Updoot for the Flintstones reference. As I remember it, they got booted for not using the sponsor's flour, but it has been a long time.

Meanwhile on the Controlled Opposition Network (CON actually better suits FNC), Laura Ingraham last night started treading the waters into actual criticism of Paul Ryan's sister-in-law. Instead of addressing Hawley's findings however, she went with a story on the judge's support of CRT. Not that CRT cheerleading isn't a problem, but leave it to FNC to go the divisive route. Certainly every normal person can agree being soft on pedos is a bad thing, but like CNN and MSNBC, Fox wants us to hate each other. It's so glaringly obvious 🙄.

OMG, hubby and I watched the finale last night and when she made her entrance we both screamed WTF? And it wasn't a two line cameo either; she had a whole scene with Captain Burnham. I'll be fair and say she wasn't awful and she didn't embarrass herself.

Her acting turn gave me an idea: We should start a letter writing campaign to encourage her to take up acting full-time. Tell her how great she was in Discovery and that Hollywood beckons. One, it gets her out of politics, and two, since most anonymous have cut the cord she becomes out of sight out of mind. A win-win, I'd say 😁

I didn't know Hawley voted yes on her appointment to the DC circuit. I'd ask why he didn't talk about this previously, but I know the answer. Thank you for educating me 😊

Initially when Biden announced Brown-Jackson's nomination I thought the Dems were going to get a win, if only because they found a nominee Fox News would be reticent to criticize because her brother-in-law sits on their board (Paul Ryan). This information uncovered by Hawley changes things considerably, and bless him for his due diligence. If Biden doesn't pull this pick it's going to get ugly.

Also, it goes without saying this woman is despicable.

I think I questioned specific things for a long time, starting with Bush 41 and the first Gulf War in '91. I didn't understand why everyone was so damn happy about a war over oil when we have oil here. It was enough to make my first presidential vote for Clinton in '92. The only time I voted for a Dem for president, but far from the only only vote I'm ashamed to have cast.

Even with both Gulf wars I still believed the GOP was trying to do the right thing but screwing up. I started to at least think the GOP was in the business of self-sabotage, between the attacks on Romney by the other GOP candidates in the '08 campaign (back when I thought he would have been a vastly superior pick over No Name) and Romney self-destructing in the 2nd 2012 debate when he had Obama dead to rights.

I started putting it together when the GOP suddenly found their inner honey badger by attacking Trump. Using covid to get rid of him after his first term successes woke me up for good. Both sides are evil, and honest brokers who even want to be involved in politics are an anomaly. It's disheartening, but knowing what I know now has lifted a burden off my shoulders I didn't even realize was there.

Did that in '88 when my choices were Bush 41 and Dukakis. Ironic that young adult me had enough sense to know Bush Sr. was a bad hombre, but much older me thought Mittens was the right choice in 2012.

Marylanders love their gubmint jobs, but even many Dems are socially conservative on some issues. I'm guessing enough Dem voters lit up his phone for him to read the writing on the wall.

No kidding. And it's not like the bill is completely going away. He's only taking out the obviously evil parts.

$4.29 in Central Maryland. Hogan is working with lawmakers to suspend the gas tax for 30 days. While I would love for this to an emergency order, I guess I'm glad they're doing it "the right way."

Hey, he said Q instead of Qanon, so, progress?

For the record, Applebee's is awful, and it bugs the spouse when they use songs he likes in their commercials, but he couldn't even be mad at them for using the "Chicken Fry" song.

I'm a former airline employee too, and the captain has the final say on who rides on his airplane. Pilots might defer to the flight attendant in the case of a drunk or abusive passenger (don't want to have to deal with that mid-flight), but this certainly wasn't the case here. The second he complied it should have ended.

It seems based on the video, the young man's bigger crime was questioning the flight attendant. Had he just removed the sweatshirt or turned it inside out without comment it may have ended there. Airline people don't like to be delayed, and asking questions causes delays. That said, he was polite and he did comply, and now Delta Airlines has a PR nightmare on their hands because they couldn't let it go once he did what he was asked.

His story is remarkable, and I think we'll be hearing many good things about him in the years to come.

Gen-Xer here. The Gen-X (or Baby-Buster) generation covers the time immediately after the Baby Boom ended in 1964. There's some debate on when the time period ends, but most sources consider Gen-Xers born between 1965 and 1980-ish:

I watched his speech before they let the press in. A truly impressive young man. Of course, Cruz completely lost the plot when he suggested he move to Texas. Ted, that young man is fighting to fix things in California, hell, in the entire country. Self-promoting your state doesn't help the other 49.

I can live with having a different opinion. I struggle with how to get him to see how manipulative Faux is. I think it's why the news is agitating him. He's a smart guy, and I think the cognitive dissonance is rattling around in his brain giving him fits. He doesn't want to dig for the truth, and in part I'm OK with it. He works and supports our family, and until "all is revealed," I have to live with being the only one awake. It's not been easy, but I love him and will continue to walk the line between gently redpilling and keeping my thoughts to myself.

Currently on Fox (hubby's had it on all day and I can't get him to look away) the narrative is Putin is going off the deep end. They've questioned his mental health more times in the last 12 hours than they've questioned Biden's in the last 12 months. I want to scream how fake this is but it won't go well. I'm about to bite my tongue in half.
