I LOVE this! Well done!
I actually wanted to use the "Settle down, raise a family..." quote from Dare to Be Stupid as my senior yearbook quote, but for some reason the yearbook advisor cut the senior quotes that year. Al is the man. π
I found out the CDC transmission rates the MD state board is using to determine whether counties can unmask are wrong. They are calculating transmission rates using the 7 day TOTAL cases instead of the average. That's why the CDC map shows all states in the High category. Been trying to get the word out to other counties and local news outlets as well so they can fight the state board.
Our county school board just lifted the school system's mask mandate, and I think the state Board was trying to get them to wait until the end of the month because they get more Fed money if the kids stay masked (sickos). In the local board meeting last night they alluded to the state keeping them out of the information loop and they were NOT happy about it. Timing is everything.
I found my way here from TDW after January 6, and only recently started interacting and posting here. This group of people I've never met have given me courage to take action in ways I never would have dared before. Unlike all the conservative sites that entered Doomerville after the steal, this place has remained positive and uplifting. So, thank you from me as well.
While Maryland indoor mask mandates are mostly gone, all schools in the state require students and teachers be masked, per the state's department of education. They've also made it impossible for individual counties to opt out, but Lockdown Larry won't do squat to stop it. π‘
On Gutfeld last night (hubby can't quit Fox, and Lord knows I tried) Charles Hurt made the remark that the vaccines don't stop you from getting covid, being hospitalized, or dying. Greg "corrected" him saying the vaccines do stop you from dying. Nice to know the "edgy" guy at Fox toes the company line /s.
I hate when people say MD is 2-to-1 Dem/Rep because less than half the registered voters are Dems. A quarter are Reps and the rest are something else, the vast majority being unaffiliated. Because MD is a closed primary almost 25% of registered voters have no say in who gets in the general. If the independents picked a side we'd have a fighting chance to get better representation in the general. I get that the MD GOP has been less than stellar, but it's the best way I can think of to take the state back.
There was allegedly a poll showing if he ran head to head against Van Hollen for his Senate seat he'd win going away. That has to be fake news because Dems here think he wasn't tyrannical enough with the Covid crap, and MAGA Republicans wouldn't spit on him if he was on fire.
I remember seeing that article a while back and was curious if any progress was made. The MD districts were gerrymandered to hell during the O'Malley reign. My county is in 4 separate congressional districts. Hogan ran on fixing the districts in 2021, and now our only GOP rep is in peril because of the Dems veto-proof majority. Of course Hogan's response was to allow permanent vote by mail and voting drop boxes by prisons. So yeah, that's why MD is so corrupt. But people are finally standing up, and it gives me hope.
Well, well, well...seems to have gone missing from my weather app also. Yay war! /s
