Every time I see someone write "God is in full control" I sigh and reflect on just how many people miss the truth. God is NOT in full control. This needs to be 100% understood. If God was in 100% control, would child rapes happen? Would evil be executed all the time? No.

So how is it that the omnipotent God is not in Complete Control? It's not really that hard to understand if you can grasp this point: God's purpose of creation involves human being being his instrument and expression in the Created World. So that we could exist as his children, and an extension of his own self, he created us with our own creativity. This means, we have both free will and also responsibility.

God does not control these. If God controlled us by ignoring our free will, then he would be ignoring his on purpose of creation.

The real formula for God being in complete control is this:

God's Choices (and actions) 95% + Human Choices (and actions ) 5% = 100% of God's will being done.

The problem is that 5%. We still don't do it. This is why history takes so long. Don't you think that if God could terminate evil in a single moment he would not do it? Of course he would. But he gave us a portion of responsibility to fulfill. So when we fulfill our responsibility and unite with God's choices 100%, then our 5% is fulfilled and THEN God is in complete control.

So the war between Good and Evil hinges on us. And if enough people are united with God, then his purpose advances and evil moves closer to destruction. Understanding this is pivotal to understanding why we need Christ, why humanity needs a savior. Only by uniting with the savior do we align our choices with God's choices, and thus advance the goal of eradicating evil and finally bringing his kingdom to the Earth.

Many believers find emotional comfort in the idea that God is fully in control, but the truth is, God is looking to us to unite with him so that His work and purpose and control can be actualized. Any time someone says "God is in full control", they are actually denying their own responsibility and their own fallibility.

Say rather, "God is guiding us" "God is working" "God has the upper hand", and dedicate yourself to uniting 100% with God. Then, through you, God's actual control over the world is enhanced and increased.

Consider: when Noah was alive, was God fully in control? No. Evil reigned on the earth in a massive way. Then how was God in control? He leveraged back control by trusting in Noah and having Noah respond. In this way, God carved out at least ONE family in which he had more control than Lucifer. What about Abraham's time? Evil, still rampant over the earth. So God chose one man, Abraham, and through that lineage raised a clan and people who would confess loyalty to God and strive to adhere to his wishes. Thus, God's 'control' and influence over the earth was increased, but only on the level of that nation. When Jesus came, how much control did God have over the world? Based on Jesus victory over death, God expanded his sphere of influence worldwide.

IN this way, historically, God has always worked, sacrificed, shed blood and tears to expand his influence and 'control' over the world. And over human beings. Today, if you confess to love God and commit yourself to do the best you can to be united with his choices and purposes, then in you, God's control is increased.

It has to be this way, because the principle of Free Will means that God willingly relinquished a portion of his own control over to his children. He wants us to be a part of his Great Work, not merely to be observers. That's how much our Father loves us.

Thus, Only when 100% of humanity is restored and unites with God 100% will God be perfectly and fully in control. Until then, he's looking at you and me and saying "Will you let me be in control of your life? Then do as I ask."

Addendum: we, human beings, the children of God, are his greatest creation, the source of his greatest joy but also the cause of his greatest heartache. It is painful to reflect on the fact that we ourselves might be the one's preventing God's will from being executed, but facing that is the difference between being a child and being an adult in heart. Only by recognizing our responsibility to see that God's will is executed - responsibility He gave to us - can we actually grow to be the children God needs and the instruments of the fulfillment of his purpose.

The purpose of Christ is not only for our own individual salvation. It is to truly teach us what we must do in order for God's will to be done "on Earth, as in Heaven".
