I am going through almost the exact situation. My wife is done with me. But i am the only one working right now. We are roommates at this point. I am trying to be as Christ to my wife. I fill a kettle with cold water and add 3 scoops. I boil it for 4 minutes on medium high (high will cause it to boil over). Then i trickle cold water around the rim and in the spout. This causes the grounds to sink to the bottom. It's called cowboy coffee i think. No machine or mess. I drink the room temperature left over coffee in the pot each morning before dumping the grounds in the compost, this grosses people out for some reason. When it's fresh I always drink it black with ice.
