Yes. Thank you. 100%. From Taiwan, can confirm. This is probably a carefully seeded CCP propaganda that well meaning Americans have taken and run with, and it gets spread because it sounds great and correlated to their outdated understanding of our historical position. The “government in exile” thing was our own propaganda from the 50s. If we truly intended to “take back the mainland” it would have happened in the 70s when we had a significant military advantage. And it would have involved Hainan, fujian province, that’s about it. Bloody, costly, a repeat of WW2. Not ethical and not worth it. So here we are. Now we want peace and to be left alone. Period.

We love the US and freedom and they are most welcome here. But I’m skeptical that we would get involved in any coalition taking action against China. Actually it will start to get complicated because many people have family connections or business interests in China and will be pretty upset if we take military action. Many view China (not CCP) in a complex way as a progenitor of culture representative of many people living here. So it would be painful to watch. We always offer to help or send aid for natural disaster in China but it gets refused. So we do care about them. We just wish them the best and hope they can move towards a better future. We already found our path to success and are very happy with how things are here.

So, yeah we aren’t going to join the party probably haha.

Edit- critical thinking. So I’m going to check my confirmation bias real quick. I just looked at the post history of the person posting the message I just replied to. No comment on that. But it is starting to make me wonder. Hey, we are as much in the dark as you guys. I can tell you my views are very mainstream and we are getting zero signals here about any kind of offensive action. But I do know that in December there were a lot of quiet communications directly between US and Taiwan military plus a surprise visit of some US officials to discuss military issues. And that’s just on the official record. I’m open to possibilities. But I don’t trust those weird rumor sources, especially ones that rehash old ideas about how we are the true legit government, etc.
