Well, not if you're just running Linux. If you want dual boot the easiest way to do that would be a separate drive for each OS.

But ubuntu and popOS have essentially streamlined the partitioning process to where you don't have to manually do it anymore. You can if you want which lets you get hands on with the boot process. I didn't know shit about computers till I started using linux.

Edit: UEFI vs MBR formatting can be annoying to learn. That's why I just stick to good old fashioned MBR. The ext4 partition format is masterfully done and works very well on an MBR drive. UEFI is the devil
