Well, the principles of this do not necessarily work simply on an individual basis. It's not the case that 'the better a person is' the more their spiritual senses function.

There are a lot of other factors, including the merit we inherit from those that come before us. Spiritual merit passes down, sometimes (and often) through lineage, just as trauma is also passed on, but also, spiritual merit can be inherited by someone if they have a specific mission or calling from God, in the playout of God's providence.

Also, some who receive, for example, spiritual gifts, can misuse them. E.g. they can see or hear things in the spirit, or have other gifts, but make bad choices and become corrupted.

In other words, I agree with you. It's not like good = better functioning spiritual senses, bad = less functioning.

Not on an individual level. But here are a few things to consider: why is it that the highest levels of development in terms of science, creativity, tech, etc, have emerged in the Christian cultural sphere, and not others? Could it be that there is a higher level of receptivity to the inspiration and information imparted from spiritual realms, in general?

Anyway, in my understanding, on the macro level, if human beings had never fallen into sin, then in a natural (unfallen) state, the spiritual senses would naturally mature and function perfectly in resonance with the physical senses.

Spiritual reality would never be invisible or obscured in the way it is now, death would not have the same sting, but be clearly understood merely as the next stage of life and transition to the eternal condition. We would be able to communicate with our ancestors and those who came before us without significant impediment, just as easily as Jesus could consult with Moses and Elijah when he needed to. Questions like "does God exist?" or "is there life after death?" would be ridiculous questions, like asking "does the Sun exist?" or "is water something we can swim in?"

This perspective meshes with an understanding of how and why the Great Awakening is happening. From the viewpoint of the relationship between the spiritual realms and the physical realms, the barriers to the more natural exchange and communication between the higher spiritual realms and this material plane are being removed.

Satan has worked very, very hard to either get people to be materialistic, and deny his very existence, and God's existence, or to prevent people from 'grasping the truth'.

There is a material aspect to the brainwashing and manipulation by the Cabal, but there is also a spiritual aspect. Waking up to the reality of evil in the world means that the parts of our mind and spirit that have been locked down are being liberated to function properly, or at least more naturally.

Cognition of truth, recognizing truth, is a spiritual ability that is connected to the more internal spiritual senses.

For me, it's pivotal to understand that the benefit we are experiencing today - waking up to the truth, seeing evil exposed, is NOT because of our great virtue. Rather, it's because of the merit earned over millennia and centuries of good works by those who sacrificed and suffered, and God mobilizing that merit to pour the benefits upon this generation. What we do with that benefit/merit is the key.
