The original poster is actually correct. Worked in IT for many, many years.

Cybersecurity is a simple checklist to use encrypted apps with no ads and no tracking. You just have to substitute what you're used to with an alternative that works just as well or better.

There is no reason, no reason whatsoever to use apps that track you.

You can de-google your phone easily. There are alternatives to all of googles software.

maps.me or 'wego here' by nokia work equally as well for google maps.

use AURORA STORE instead of playstore. Only use apps that have NO ADS.

Signout of all google apps.

Use proton.me for email/calendar.

use telegram x (secret chat function) for messaging/comms.

Use graphene to reformat your phone with a safe OS or pay/ask an IT friend to do it for you.

Use trusted, reputable antispyware tools

etc.

Google doesn't invent anything new, they just copied other ideas and used them for data whoring.

People get lazy with cybersec because they fell there is no immediate danger.

Yet just like locking your front door, its not until its too late that you find out someone has been stalking you, and then they attack.

If someone in the military used weak cybersec tools they would be court martialed.

Treat your data as if it were your life on the line. Even if you have nothing to hide.

And never do anything harmful or illegal of course.

SHORT ANSWER: Installing linux or graphene and ceasing usage of google apps (switching to alternatives) is actually not difficult to do at all. Takes about an hour to setup.

Drivers get overwritten by the OS being swapped out. Voila, no tracking.

If all you do is email, messaging, browsing, maps/navigation, literally any phone can do these without any google tools at all.

And of course uninstall all social media apps. Use telegram or other secure apps only for group chat.

What breaks cybersecurity is you. Bad habits. Securing a phone and then, like an idiot, logging into facebook. Don't. Or installing protonmail but then switching back to gmail just because you can't seem to let it go. Don't.

Stick to what works.

No one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to use insecure tools. Companies simply make these convenient (like cigarettes).

Uninstall all facebook & google & 'big tech' apps from your phone.
