The knowledge and assurance that we WILL be delivered in God’s perfect timing serves to strengthen our faith. I think this is the message of the wanderings of Moses’ people after the exodus. They were delivered from Pharoh’s hand after witnessing all the plagues that befell Pharoh and his people because he stubbornly resisted God’s command to “Let my people go!” Still, once they were set free, even as God continued to rescue them and provide for all their needs, they complained and questioned and rebelled. They actually begged to turn back! When Moses went up the mountain to meet God, they were so fearful of his not returning that they fashioned an idol to be their leader. They embraced fear instead of faith because they couldn’t believe in anything beyond what they could see with their earthly eyes, and imagine what they actually HAD already seen with their earthly eyes! The miracles! They would’ve saved themselves a lot of footsteps had they just been patient. How easy it is for us to do the same - to be impatient waiting for Him to move when we don’t see the big picture. But this is what Faith is made of - believing, even when our eyes can’t yet see.
