The difficulty with that is that we don't even meet that standard on our own:

Just make an effort to treat everyone with love and kindness and you're all set.

Honestly , this is not far from what Jesus our Messiah said himself: Mark 12:28

And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

(This is where they are in the Antique Covenant (OT, If you prefer)

And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, (Deut. 11:3)

Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD. (Lev. 19:18)

He extended this to include even those for whom the 'hatred is mutual', when he told the story of the good Samaritan. And He amplified it when He described being angry with others without cause as setting yourself up for hellfire. If you read the Sermon on the Mount and the after verses, you'll get the idea that God's standard is sinless perfection. And you'll be right. Reading Isaiah 52 -53 will help.
