This is good and valuable info, and I'm surprised you got a downvote.
So, a few things: While Collins was originally a reporter with Daily Caller (aka Con. Inc.), she became a CNN reporter and as you point out, she had numerous clashes with DJT.
Thinking about the way she talked about Soros suggests to me that she was ambitious, and was mouthing off what the bosses at DC wanted hear, even if her own sympathies lie elsewhere, but who knows.
Based on this information, it's easy to imagine that in fact, she was put in by CNN dumbos in hopes of flustering/triggering and tripping up DJT.
And I agree with you, considering this background (I'd never even heard of Collins 2 days ago), it makes no sense to call her Town Hall behavior a performance, at least, certainly not one intended to make Trump look good.
The lesson here (for me) is to dig moa before drawing any conclusions, so I'll take the "ludicrous" characterization with my lumps. (Even a cursory glance thru wikipedia delivers enough info to reject the idea that she is somehow a plant or a positive).
