There's no reason a smart lock needs to be connected to the internet. Certainly not to any central server owned by Amazon. There's also no reason to not always be able to manually bypass the electronic lock with your key.

It's not "muh smart bad REEEEEEE" it is simply the way the tech is being used that is currently bad.

To use AI as an example, something like ChatGPT would be unfathomably based if it was allowed to come to any conclusions based on the data provided. Instead, it is only able to produce propaganda and narrative-control nonsense. That isn't a problem with AI, it's a problem with the people who created that particular AI.

I remember a while back there was an AI that concluded black people were the most racist on social media. They promptly deleted it, claimed they were all subconsciously racist as the designers and accidentally programmed bias into the AI, and then probably got to work making sure the AI was only capable of calling whitey racist in the future.

Edit: To add a bit about smart TVs to more directly rebut your stupid claim based solely on ignorance of technology rather than knowledge and understanding of it and the actual dangers it poses (which are many): My TV being smart allows me to easily play local media from my PC on the TV, without needing to put it all on a drive and plug it into the TV, or have the TV in the same room. I can simply stream my own media that I acquired very legitimately (heh) to my TV. This works without internet and completely locally. The TV only needs access to the local network, but could be completely offline if I so wished. A dumb TV could not do this, because it is as dumb as your comment and only accepts simple inputs while producing simple outputs.
