This article says phenylephrine. But the active ingredient in Benadryl is Diphenhydramine.

Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine, as mentioned earlier. It works by blocking the effects of histamine, a substance produced by the body during an allergic reaction. Diphenhydramine is commonly used to relieve symptoms of allergies, such as sneezing, runny nose, itching, and watery eyes. It can also have sedative effects and is sometimes used as a sleep aid.

On the other hand, phenylephrine is a decongestant. It works by narrowing the blood vessels in the nasal passages and reducing swelling and congestion in the nasal tissues. Phenylephrine is often found in over-the-counter cold and allergy medications designed to relieve nasal congestion and sinus pressure. It does not have the sedative effects associated with diphenhydramine.

OTC sleeping aids contain diphenhydramine. I buy it generic. Works great for sleep. So if they ban Benadryl we still have the OTC sleeping aid.

"Benadryl Allergy Plus Decongestion" contains both.
